“Sorry,” Julia said while picking out an appetiser. “I should show respect to the hostess.”

Evelyn giggled, and popped something into her mouth, swallowing it whole. With a warm smile she winked. Watch it, they are masters of deception.

“I wasn’t expecting you to be so polite,” Evelyn said. “So you see, we are both beholden to our stereotypes.”
