Clara Gets Some Advice and a Review

I normally find reviews by periodically checking the stores who carry my work. This time around, I received an Email from a fellow author, who took the time to leave me a great review for the Van Helsing Paradox!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last. Recommended.

The excerpt of the review can be found below:

The book is the life story of Clara, a very strong female character, who grows up to hunting monsters (primarily ghouls and vampires) as part of a secret Catholic order that protects humanity from the monsters. The author is quite creative in both the headquarters of the order and the religious aspects of the book. The novel contains a small amount of explicit sex and a fair amount of violence (not gratuitous, but appropriate for the book's plot and world) , making it appropriate for young adult and adult readers. The book also has some nice twists and a strong ending I didn't expect. I would definitely be interested in reading a sequel, prequel, and any book by this author in this universe. This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. Recommended.

As an aside, the author also sent me a list of grammatical errors and/or mistakes that were found while reading. Some were clearly things that had been missed during the many revision cycles, while others were related to style choices that I made.

So I guess I’ll have something to do over the weekend. Friendly advice and a great way ahead to make the book even better! What’s not to like?

It’s Always Nice

On occasion, I like to confirm that Amazon.com is still listing my eBooks as free. This also provides me with the opportunity to see if there are new ratings or if my rankings have markedly changed.

I loved this book. Trippy , fun read.

Today I came across the review below. I must admit that it’s always nice to see something positive!

On a side note, the review also shows that it was for the paperback edition! Until now, I always assumed that no one would even consider the print variant. From time to time it can be nice to be proven wrong.

Sometimes There are Risks

Sometimes there are risks to reading the Grand!

This book was so wonderful and enthralling that I almost burned dinner! I meant to only read a few pages to pass time while during afternoon chores but I was just was caught up in the many different layers of timelines and viewpoints. I wish to request a follow up or sequel as I would love to know some more about the Grand many guests especially any famous ones.

Sometimes it’s nice to get a positive review!

Ambitious and highly creative. This has a lot going on with many themes and threads that are all wound around one very creepy setting, The Grand. There were some beautiful gothic parts and a few wow moments. While it isn't as refined as it could be the creativity alone gets five stars from me Great storytelling.

A Silver Lining

I occasionally check Amazon, Smashwords, and Goodreads for new ratings and statistics, although I do avoid making it a habit. Yesterday, I was looking on Amazon and noticed that my rankings had improved. How? I have no clue, but its never been better!

There was also a positive review waiting for me, which is always nice. Perhaps I am generating some interest? Not bad since I cannot spend much time advertising my work.

This should help offset the bad review I got a month or so back. Perhaps in time the positives will outweigh the negatives!
