Satisfied she was not a fugitive, she used a credit card to book a room for the night. She then turned on a burner phone. They were surely tracking her, but that worked out in her favour before. —I really owe them now

After a long shower that left her skin pruned, and an indulgent amount of room service, she felt a bit more human. As much as could be expected of someone who returned to their cell every time they closed their eyes. ‪At least I dream
