Man at War – Excerpt No. 270

“What about the objective?” Marc asked.

“Sir, we secured the site and found three dead ghouls,” Ryan replied.

This meant they were intercepted like the attack on the redoubt. The difference was that he was not there to deal with the threat.

“What about the fire support team?” Murphy asked.

Black and white nighttime photograph from the “Man at War – Carried by Six” series. A group of soldiers stands on a grassy hill under a dramatic, cloudy sky. One soldier in the center holds up a bright flare or spotlight that illuminates the scene, while others stand watch with rifles. Some are crouched or operating equipment on tripods. The composition has a tense, cinematic feel, suggesting a night patrol, artillery spotting team, or forward support unit preparing for action.
