The war measures led to a relaxation of existing regulations related to conduct. Normally when a vampire was exposed or risked exposing their kind they were hunted down and killed. On rare occasions their group leaked the presence of these rogues to hunters. This gives them a false impression of their success rate and hides our true numbers.

Now such offenses meant those caught were sent here. Every city loyal to their cause sent their prisoners here. Until now they had been waiting for a purpose, but Marc was about to change that.

“How many?” Marc asked.

“Thirty-seven,” Aelred said.
