Three minutes

Desaturated color photograph of a soldier in a peaked cap and military uniform standing amid rubble in a devastated town at night. He holds a brightly burning flare aloft in his right hand, its intense warm light and thick plume of smoke cutting through the dark, blue-toned sky. Damaged buildings line the debris-filled street in the background. The dramatic lighting emphasizes the tension of the moment. The image has a vintage, torn-edge photo border.
