Man at War – Excerpt No. 355

“Can I look?” Sawyer asked.

Marc shot the man an icy stare and returned his focus to the nurses. They had everything needed to pass as a young male officer, including the wrappings to flatten their chests.

The older one was dressed as a lieutenant whereas the one he flirted with was dressed as a second lieutenant. Overall, the ranks made sense as it reflected their internal rank structure.

“Looey and second looey,” Marc said, mimicking the soldiers.

“Why officers?” Sawyer asked.

It was peculiar for Sawyer to ask questions, so Marc assumed it was the result of boredom.
