As a precaution she kept her pistol trained until she confirmed the driver was still hanging upside down with his head pinned against the roof. Had she been human she may have called it mission accomplished and walked away. 

However, the agent was still breathing, and his heartbeats were faint but steady. 

“Nanites,” Grace said. 

The affluent and connected often had nanites coursing through their veins. They had no effect on vampires, as their dead physiology caused them to deactivate. 

But for the living they could perform basic medical tasks. Even now they were isolating areas of major trauma and putting the body in a hibernation mode. 

A flipped silver-gray high-end sports car rests overturned in a grassy field under thick orange fog at night, with a man in a dark blue suit lying motionless on the ground beside the wreck amid scattered debris and tire tracks stretching into the misty distance.
