“Steady, ma chère,” Evelyn said. “I got you.”
Julia caught Evelyn giving her a look and nodded in response. The werewolf grabbed Clara, while Evelyn withdrew Clara’s backup weapon.
Several shots were fired into the adjacent window, the echoes muffled by the fog. Clara watched in awe, not entirely sure of what was going on.
“You two need a distraction,” Evelyn said. “Good luck!”
Evelyn grabbed onto the window’s edge, oblivious to the glass shards embedding themselves into her hand. She then fired several rounds into the gearbox causing the platform to plummet into the orange fog.
“I have a war to win!” Evelyn said.
She flashed a wicked smile when someone opened the door leading into the room. “Good timing, I needed a snack…”
