Aftershocks – Excerpt No. 3

“Sorry,” Julia said softly while grabbing a couple of appetisers. “I should show respect for my hostess.”

Evelyn giggled, before grabbing something which she swallowed whole. With a warm smile she winked, a sign that it would take more than that slight to get under her skin. Watch it, they are masters of deception.

“I wasn’t expecting you to be so polite,” Evelyn said. “See, we are both beholden to our stereotypes.”
