You probably expected to find a book, something like a grimoire or an idiot’s guide to. Truth is, there is no such thing, at least nothing that is mass produced. Those you do find in a bookstore are for tourists, not those who have the ‘gift’ to be a witch.

Get Ted Dead is a post-mortal urban fantasy written by independent author Ross Young. This is the second book in the Gloomwood series and starts off a few months after Dead Heads ends.
All the old characters are back in play. Time has not stood still in Gloomwood, attracting the attention of outside forces. For those of you familiar with the Beezy and Grim comics, you may guess who’s the lead instigator.
Like its predecessor, this novel covers multiple points of view. This story is more complex and nuanced, offering a fresh perspective on a dead world. Readers are rewarded with hints of other afterlives, more about the reapers, and what’s the deal with that teddy bear.
Get Ted Dead is a quick read that maintains the comedic standard of its predecessor. Fans of the original story will get a kick of seeing the world they knew get turned upside down.

“Quit fucking with me,” Kaylee said.

Kaylee raised her hand, with the palm facing outward. She pointed at the elder’s tents and motioned to get some distance.
When the camp was concealed by the fog, Kaylee said, “You look as though you’ve seen a ghost.”
“Or Death itself…” Julia said without changes in intonation.

“Don’t let your imagination run wild,” Julia whispered, despite a growing sense of dread that made it difficult to breathe. “Calm down.”
Words without conviction held no sway over her. Nevertheless, she pushed onwards. Fear was taunting her, but Julia needed to know what was going on. To focus, Julia recited a prayer for a meagre amount of comfort.

The lane was a holdover from the property’s origins as a farm The back had grown wild since, covered in threes, shrubs, tall grass, and these purple flowers that reminded her of a man wearing baggy clothes and a hoodie. Saves me from mowing the grass.

The wind picked up, sending a blast of cold air up her dress. She was on high from the hour they spent together, so Mother Nature would need to do better than that to get a reaction. She let out a dreamy sigh, and headed down the lane leading to their home. How am I so lucky?

“I highly recommend you see Tyler,” Julia said while pointing at her ruck. “He has a good eye for what works.”
“Thank you,” Amber said before glancing at Gwen and heading inside.
That left Gwen and Kaylee alone with her. So why are they sticking around?
“If you are up to it,” Kaylee said while looking at her grandmother for support. “We’d love to have you join us.”
“Really?” Julia confirmed and figured they discussed this beforehand. “I’d love to.”

Julia spotted the family making their way to the general store. She was surprised they were here, but Amber had a noticeable limp, explaining why she caught up with them. Unlike her elders, Kaylee beamed a smile. Missed our banter?
“Hi,” Julia said with a single wave of her hand. “A pleasant surprise, I hope?”

“Can I help you,” someone said from behind.
