Man at War – Excerpt No. 283

As a vampire he had no trouble making way towards a Metro station that appeared to be under construction. From a distance, it was little more than an open pit surrounded by a perimeter fence.

He walked on through the fence on the west side, which yielded a view of a recently constructed stairwell. His eyes were soon assaulted by electric light, something the Georgian illusion somehow managed to mask from those outside.

Black and white dramatic photograph of a mysterious man in a long coat and fedora walking away from the viewer toward a brightly lit concrete stairwell descending into an underground Metro station under construction. A prominent warning sign reading 'DANGER OPEN PIT KEEP OUT' stands beside the chain-link fence. The scene has a strong illusion effect: the exterior appears dark and abandoned while the interior glows with electric light, creating an eerie, atmospheric nighttime mood.
