Marc turned around and spotted his friend standing within a large stone archway that led out of the courtyard. Marc looked up and realized the courtyard itself had been roofed over instead of being left open to the element. That makes things easier.
From his vantage point, he saw three levels, each with a walkway and large openings permitting natural light to filter through. The doors on this level were all evenly spaced, and he assumed this applied to the remaining two decks. The military favours predictability over creativity.
