Just mentioning that name had a visible effect on Janus. The jailer closed his eyes in an attempt to maintain his composure. This left Marc to wonder how Janus ever ended up heading this facility.

“We know what you did in Venice,” Janus said.

Janus was referring to an event that happened centuries ago. One of Drusilla’s agents attempted to kill his sire and Marc reacted poorly. He killed the vampire in a brutal fashion along with several patrons of the cabaret.

He spent three days and nights buried into the mud of a Venetian canal, before boarding a ship for parts unknown. To this knowledge Aelred managed to convince the Venetian Council that Drusilla’s agent was the cause.
