Man at War – Excerpt No. 306

There was plenty of room for them, the situation was a bit like being in limbo. Whoever was pulling the strings in the background must have suspected they knew, but they did not care enough to sever the link. That just added more weight on Evelyn’s shoulder. She was close to dealing with the situation herself without confirmation.

“Time to face this,” Grace whispered.

She took out her key and unlocked the door. Grace cautiously opened the door slowly to confirm she was not going to set foot into a slaughterhouse. Instead, she found the room dimly lit with a single candle.
