Man at War – Excerpt No. 307

Grace opened the door all the way. The place was almost as she left it, save for dinner for two and a bottle of red wine that was nearly empty. At the desk she spotted the open letter. While Grace had no idea how they encoded their messages, the pile of books and loose sheets of paper indicated that Evelyn had done the hard part.

She closed the door, locked it, and walked past the desk. Grace noticed in plain text Marc’s answer: Let her die with dignity.
