While that direction was far more lenient than expected, it explained the meal, and the fact that Evelyn was in her bed with the runaway. They had taken to calling her that. We had no way of knowing her name.

“I’m sorry,” Grace said softly.

Evelyn would have known that she entered the room, and vampires did not easily let their guard down. Still, she hoped those words would get her mistress to open up.
