When the sheet rolled off, Evelyn’s bare chest was revealed, painting a clearer picture of Evelyn’s interpretation of his directive.

“I-I wanted it to be as painless as possible,” Evelyn said. “Then it came to me that what worked for Breanna might work for her.”

Grace was still a bit uncertain about the process Evelyn used to get that Georgian to talk. Her mistress described it as pushing a woman to the brink of ecstasy and keeping her there. She claimed that it effectively broke through the mind’s defences.
