All vampires were linked by blood to an extent. Sponsors were expected to do it to those they brought forward for approval. This ensured candidates never divulged anything about the ritual.

Marc and Evelyn were rare in having a two-way link, which created a bond unlike any she ever witnessed. Still, Grace could only imagine the horror of losing control of her mind and body to a foreign influence. A violation of the worst order.
