Man at War – Excerpt No. 331

Their objective was in the ruins of a town square. The once pristine cobbled streets were now a collection of craters and rubble piled up to form defensive positions.

Marc was atop a walkway surrounding the remnants of a clock tower. Part of the roof was exposed, and most of the clock’s mechanism was a combination of twisted metal and slag.

The wind had a bite to it this evening and the ground was frosted over. While the men complained about the cold, he knew they were also happy that the muddy terrain was frozen. A few have said they fear the mud will one day drag them to their graves.
