Man at War – Excerpt No. 49

“I plan to expand the latter,” Marc said.

“I want in, Sir.”

Marc pointed to a chair with a back against the opposing wall by the entrance. Private Moreau scrounged it for Marc, but he preferred the ability to turn around and look those who visited in the eye.

a cinematic photograph of a British colonel with a strong jawline and piercing blue eyes, wearing a worn, earth-toned military uniform, holding a faded black and white photograph of a woman with curly brown hair and a sly smile, posing provocatively in a long, dark dress, located inside a dimly lit, cluttered dugout office with wooden crates and military gear, the scene and clothing appropriate for the Great War era, with a mix of warm, golden lighting and cool, dark shadows, the photography style is gritty and realistic, with a shallow depth of field, focusing attention on the colonel's rugged face and the photograph in his hand.
