Man at War – Excerpt No. 73

The creature turned around so fast that Murphy wondered if there were two of them. He knew that spelled trouble but Sergeant Sullivan, on the other side, fired off two rounds and that rallied the remaining men.

Vampires were tough creatures. They were effectively dead meaning that a strike to the heart and lungs did not slow them down. They were also fast, could heal in seconds, and were unnaturally strong.

a cinematic photo of a German soldier vampire riddled with bullet holes, some so large you can see through him, still standing, ever the threat, set against a dark and ominous nighttime backdrop of a World War I battlefield, with trenches and barbed wire in the foreground, the soldier's tattered and bloodstained uniform a mix of grey and brown, his face deathly pale with sunken eyes and sharp fangs, his skin a pale blue grey color, with a menacing gaze, the photography style is dramatic and intense, with deep shadows and strong highlights, the overall mood is one of foreboding and horror.
