Selene’s Influence – Excerpt No. 5

Julia reached the edge of the trail. While there was the pervasive scent of humans, it differed greatly from what she was accustomed to. There was no aftershave, perfume, or subtle smells like shampoo. All of it was overpowered by body odour.

If she guessed right, hikers must be several days away from a camp in either direction. Otherwise, some would smell noticeably better than others.

“Not like I smell much better,” Julia mused, after marinating in her clothes all day. “At least I’ll fit in.”
