Time moved at a crawl for Julia, appearing as though every grain of sand fell through the hour glass in torturous slow motion. As judged by her cellmate’s steady breathing, it was at least an hour since lights out, but in her mind a week could have just as easily passed. While her bones were weary, and she was emotionally drained, her mind refused to disengage and that was not about to change.
