There would be no reply, she swiped to her music app and pressed okay. 

“Oh!” she exclaimed. “I love this one.”

Grace cranked the volume until the sound could be heard all around her. The modern base and beats really age to give this forgotten song a new life.

Because no-no, no-no-nobody wants me…

As she approached the minivan the seat could be seen rising up. This permitted her to see over the dash without concern. The accelerator and break were also raised.

A young blonde woman with her hair in a bun walks through a cracked field of dead crop stalks under a thick rusty-orange fog. She wears a worn green jacket, dark pants, boots, a large backpack, and white over-ear headphones around her neck. She appears to be moving with a slight dance-like step toward a white minivan with tinted windows parked on a road at the edge of the field. The image has a soft polaroid-style border.
