The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 363

“Augustine?”

Blood flushed from Amelia’s face. They might have managed to surprise Clara by bringing up details of the world Clara beyond, but this was an insight on their domain. I’m only supposed to know how things once were.

“How do you know?”

“She was Reverend Mother, when I was alive,” Clara said.

There came a pause as Amelia processed what was said.

“Impossible! That would make her…”
