The Van Helsing Impetus – Excerpt No. 154

There was a bar at the far end of the room, with the world’s most peculiar triplets on the stools. All three had an impish grin, as though they were the cat that ate the canary.

Ada was tied up at a table in the middle of the room. It was rare for vampires to show bruising or injuries, seeing as they healed when given the opportunity. However, the broken nose, black eye, and cracked lip were clear as day. She must be pretty weak to remain like she is.

“They really worked her over,” Evelyn said.

“Mm-hmm,” Clara replied, not wanting to give away the fact she had a guardian angel.
