The Van Helsing Impetus – Excerpt No. 33

Upon approaching it, she noticed the culvert was grated, with a thick lock that would resist tampering. So as her feet cooled in the water, she picked the lock and opened the grate. Just beyond it was dark, but there was a faint glow.

Clara tensed her jaw muscles, and got on all fours. Before moving deeper into the tunnel, she was able to lock it behind her. It seemed like a reasonable precaution that prevented anyone from following her here.
