The Van Helsing Impetus – Excerpt No. 39

She was tempted to close her eyes and catch up on her sleep, however she cycled through her newly imported contacts and selected Elizabeth. The same blank conversation showed up, and all that anxiety buried by the hustle and bustle of the last couple of days resurged.

Her thumbs lingered over the virtual keys, desperate for something to say or write, but she could not manage it. This was the woman she saved and later betrayed, or at least in her mind the latter applied. Why could she not bring herself to reach out and make contact.

Disgusted with herself once more, she swiped the messenger away, and locked her phone. Only then, did she realise how emotionally exhausted she was. Within minutes of defeat, she was fast asleep.
