The Van Helsing Impetus – Excerpt No. 41

There was a pause as it neared the hatch, followed by taps on the keypad. Clara looked up, wondering if she should turn on the lights, but opted to keep it dark. If this was a ruse, then anyone human would have a great deal of difficulty seeing clearly in this poorly lit room.

There were fifteen beeps in all, and Clara caught the sound of the locking mechanism disengaging followed by the hatch turning. Shortly thereafter a pair of expensive high heels, was followed by smooth legs, and a hiked up dress. Clearly this facility was not designed for soldiers wearing evening gowns.
