The Van Helsing Impetus – Excerpt No. 89

“I’ll miss her,” Evelyn said as the plane rolled down the tarmac towards the runway.

“You can’t be serious?” Marc asked.

For Marc to speak out loud without a direct need noted the importance of those words. Although, one might think otherwise when hearing his natural manner of speech. It could be measured with a metronome and utterly devoid of emotion.

“What?” Evelyn asked, her brows furrowed and lips pursed as though she were confused.

“She’s an asset,” Marc said. “Nothing more?”

Evelyn giggled to lighten the mood. While ineffective against Marc, it helped shore up her own mood.

“Have you seen her ass?” Evelyn said before biting her lower lip.

“That’s not what I—” Marc said.
