Man of War – Excerpt No. 173

“There’s nothing to stop the Spanish from raiding this town?” Émilie asked.

“Other than my garrison?” Marc replied. “We have sentries posted on the outskirts of town for a reason… what’s that?”

“What?” Émilie asked in return. “Oh. These? I found them blooming in town.”

That came as a bit of a surprise, since Marc had yet to come across these trees here. Back home, and even grew on the grounds of the Keep.

“That tree’s associated with Aphrodite, goddess of love and fertility,” Marc said.

Trees with white blooms, and the goddess Aphrodite. Clothes and scene appropriate to the 16th Century France.
