Man of War – Excerpt No. 298

An hour after sunset, servants entered the Contessa’s quarters, bringing in several trunks with them. Upon closer inspection, Marc realised these were wardrobes, and while one contained men’s clothing, the rest were clearly hers.

While the servants were unbothered by his presence, or the fact they were both nude. Marc suspected this was all a show. Men and women of their station would normally live in different rooms… or wings. Servants also assisted them with all aspects of the preparation.

“What are these for?” Marc asked as he opened a trunk to find this one was full of masks and wigs.

“A party,” Susanna said dryly.

Steamer trunk opened, revealing a full wardrobe of women's clothing. Background appropriate for 16th century in a parlor.
