Clara rummaged through her things until she found something passable to wear. It was a dress, decades out of style, folded in with a cedar plank.
With the dress pressed against her body, Clara realised that it was not hers. She remembered that it was featured in an old picture of her parents on their wedding day.
“It’s been here all this time?” Clara asked herself.
Without the emotional element to this dress, Clara might have opted to return it to the trunk. However, there was something about making a connection to her past, to a bygone era before life went off the rails for the Grey family.
“It didn’t last long,” Clara mused.
