The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 17

“I…”

Clara stopped cold when the werewolf turned away. The sight of it was nearly ridiculous, as they were feared by both hunters and vampires alike. Creatures that stood at least three metres tall, with claws that felled trees… The literal stuff of nightmares

In truth Julia had recently escaped from a human trafficking facility. Werewolves were formidable under the full moon but still outwardly human the rest of the time. Clara could not imagine what went on in that facility for two weeks… could have been days had I saved her myself at the expense of the mission

“Do you need some time alone?”

The werewolf nodded, and Clara choked on her breath… I didn’t want to make things worse

Photo-realistic image of a brunette in her thirties with large black wings wearing hiking clothes. She is standing near a large black-furred werewolf standing on its hind legs, towering over the woman. They look as though they are having a conversation. Located deep in winter woods at night with the full moon hanging over the air.
