The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 178

“I’m not even sure that I can run for long before my legs give out,” Clara whispered before opening the door.

Her legs were sore just from walking the distance. As a hunter, Clara could dance all night and still had enough left in her to kill and dispose of a vampire… I’ve never felt so vulnerable around men

“I prefer breaking them,” Clara whispered. The thought brought a smile to her lips, which faded away as she dipped her hand in a pool of holy water and made the sign of a cross… At least my skin isn’t burning

Photograph of a woman with brown hair and grey eyes a dated dress facing away from the camera. Makes dips her fingers in the holy water as she enters an empty church. Scene and clothing appropriate for a 1915 Canadian coastal mining town.
