The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 204

Clara pushed through the doors and walked into the council chambers. As expected, it was empty, forcing her to manage every aspect of her plan.

While pure conjecture, Clara hoped that escaping deeper into her mind might deter Evelyn’s ability to read her thoughts. Through the windows ahead she could see Evelyn’s lip finishing off the last syllable of the word ‘hiding.’

Clara did not see any risk with being truthful and straightforward. This was an alternate reality that ultimately had no effect on her. Changing a potential past would not carry forward to her… I’m pretty sure that I was already dead by now
