The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 206

Had I been this Clara I would distract Evelyn to weaken my bindings…”

The idea had merits. Could she make that happen from the depths of her mind?

Clara had to act as naturally as possible. Lying in this state would strain her focus, and she was not interested in giving away her hand just yet.

“You never asked,” Clara imagined herself saying. “It’s odd, you were always known for your foreplay.”

Nothing happened at first, which left her wondering if she had any control at all. After counting to thirty-three her voice echoed out throughout the hall… enough to make the room shake!

She grabbed onto something and waited for things to settle. It did momentarily in between words, which proved to be annoying.

Picture of a flapper in large expansive council chambers, empty save for her. The flapper is holding on to the furniture as the room shakes as though she were in an earthquake. Located in an opulent art-deco space, clothing and styles appropriate for 1925 high class United States.
