The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 224

The longer she was in this body, the more she became aware of its limitations. A dull pain was constant, as was the itching. She took the latter as a sign that new skin was growing back… clearly more than my wings were scorched

She also became aware of something skittering in the distance. It was much larger than a rat, and yet could not pick up its heartbeat. The most disturbing element was the sound of it sniffing the air… as though searching for prey

It conjured up the imagery of a dark shadow stalking women in the night… Like something straight out of Nosferatu.

a dimly lit, cinematic photograph of a foreboding, nocturnal scene, where a gaunt, Nosferatu-inspired vampire, with long, spindly fingers, sunken eyes, and a grotesque, elongated face, lurks in the darkest recesses of a cramped, rundown room, cluttered with shattered furniture, torn curtains, and cobwebs, its attention fixed on a scurrying rat, the only source of sustenance in the desolate atmosphere, the shadows cast by the faint, flickering moonlight outside, eerily illuminating the vampire's decrepit form, as it prepares to pounce on its unsuspecting prey, capturing the haunting, melancholic essence of a creature doomed to eternal darkness.
