The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 249

“Steady, ma chère,” Evelyn said. “I got you.”

Julia caught Evelyn giving her a look and nodded in response. The werewolf grabbed Clara, while Evelyn withdrew Clara’s backup weapon.

Several shots were fired into the adjacent window, the echoes muffled by the fog. Clara watched in awe, not entirely sure of what was going on.

“You two need a distraction,” Evelyn said. “Good luck!”

Evelyn grabbed onto the window’s edge, oblivious to the glass shards embedding themselves into her hand. She then fired several rounds into the gearbox causing the platform to plummet into the orange fog.

“I have a war to win!” Evelyn said.

She flashed a wicked smile when someone opened the door leading into the room. “Good timing, I needed a snack…”

a moody, cinematic photograph of a mysterious female vampire with raven-black hair cascading down her porcelain complexion, piercing emerald green eyes gleaming with malevolent intent, and a wicked, sly smile playing on her full, pale lips, as if savoring the anticipation of her next victim. She wears a flowing, tattered black gown with torn velvet fabrics, its hem tangled around her ankles, and stands tall, statuesque, facing the worn, ornate door of a decrepit luxury hotel room, its once-opulent furnishings now shrouded in dust and cobwebs, with faded, peeling wallpaper and a chandelier hanging precariously from the ceiling, casting eerie shadows that dance across the walls, evoking an atmosphere of foreboding and decay.
