The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 260

“I have to hand it to that corpse—Evelyn,” Julia began. “The love of her life was dead, possibly coming back to life due to an alternate self, her sire had to be locked up, and she still carried on as though it was a regular affair.”

Looks could be deceiving, and Evelyn with her short slender frame, feminine features, soft skin, and penchant for designer clothing certainly disarmed many. However, that vampire had been figuratively through hell and lived a life that few would envy.

“Adding to that, people were actively trying to kill her and end the world,” Julia added. “I’m pretty sure I’d crack under that much pressure.”

Instead, the vampire enabled their escape and promised to take the war to her enemies. Evelyn might be the natural enemy of hunters, but she was also the most steadfast and powerful ally Clara ever had.

a dramatic, high-contrast, cinematic photo of a confident woman with raven-black hair cascading down her back, piercing green eyes, and porcelain skin, wearing a luxurious, long-sleeved, black high-fashion gown with intricate lace details and a flowing train, as she stands fearlessly amidst a horde of grotesque, post-apocalyptic creatures, clutching a sleek, metallic shotgun with both hands, its barrel gleaming in the faint light, her eyes fixed intently on the beasts, her full lips pressed into a determined line, set against a dark, ominous night sky with an eerie, orange-hued fog hanging low, illuminated only by the faint, flickering glow of distant flames, the creatures' twisted forms silhouetted against the misty backdrop, photography.
