The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 27

Clara popped in by the dying fire, and was unsurprisingly alone. Even at a full run, Julia would need at least an hour to make it back to camp.

“Right… She asked for time alone.”

Julia had the potential to be a powerful ally, but it was the scars that could not be seen with the naked eye that took the longest to heal. Both their wounds were deep, even if the nature of them varied greatly.

“I can’t push her away.”

Nor could she rush the matter. Clara would need to show some patience and head back home for a couple of weeks. A vampire named Evelyn would be more than happy to see her and the feeling was mutual…

“The problem is, I never want to leave… Right.”

Brunette in her thirties, with large black featured wings, wearing hiking clothes, is standing in an empty makeshift campsight. The fire at the centre of the camp has been reduced to embers. Located in the winter night woods, with the full moon hanging in the air.
