The Van Helsing Conjecture – Excerpt No. 86

That excitement turned out to be infectious. It meant that Clara could get out of this rut and do what she was made to do. All this waiting made her antsy, and risked her choosing to remain permanently with Evelyn… such a beautiful gilded cage

There was nothing wrong with settling down, especially with such a prize waiting for her every night… is that really me?

Clara remembered being bored in Heaven, all duty and no action. Deep down the angel knew that she would never allow herself to be happy giving up on trying to make a difference.

A cinematic photograph of a serene angel with luscious, chestnut-brown hair cascading down her back, and piercing grey eyes that seem to hold a deep sense of melancholy, as if gazing into the distance. Her skin has a soft, luminescent glow, with a subtle warmth that hints at a gentle ethereal radiance. She appears to be in her thirties, with delicate features and a slender, willowy figure, dressed in flowing, ivory-white robes that seem to shimmer in the soft, heavenly light. Despite being surrounded by the grandeur of heaven, her expression conveys a sense of ennui, as if she's disconnected from the celestial beauty around her. The photography style is moody and atmospheric, with a shallow depth of field, blurring the background to emphasize the angel's introspective demeanor, and a warm, golden color palette that evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing.
